Happy Cat Month – My Military Lifestyle

Happy Cat Month!! Want to know a secret? I never used to be a cat person…gasp!! Yes, it is true! Growing up, I only had dogs, so I always preferred those furry friends over cats. However, as I got older, I got to live with my first cat and fell in love! Now, in a house already full of 2 chaotic kiddos, we have 2 dogs, and not 1, not 2, but 3 cats. We started out with our first cat from a foster, and then the next 2 just kinda fell into our laps as they were strays in the neighborhood. All in all, we are now a cat-loving household.

During Happy Cat Month, it is important to focus on your fluffy friends. The whole meaning and purpose of Happy Cat Month is to promote the health and well-being of cats and help their humans understand that they need just as much care as dogs. Cats should visit the vet yearly or even twice a year to help maintain optimum health. Our feline friends need attention, stimulation, and overall great care, just like any other pet.

How can you celebrate Happy Cat Month? Check out some of these ideas:

  1. Take your cat to the vet regularly! We are in September, has your cat been to the vet yet this year? Regular vet checks can keep your cat living a long, strong, and healthy life.
  2. Look out for your cat! Even with yearly vet checks, it is important to monitor and observe your cat for any health issues. For example, our oldest cat started breathing in an odd way out of nowhere. His breathing was loud and heavy. Turns out he has allergies, but it was something that he needed medicine for to help him. Had we let it continue, he could have developed some major breathing issues.
  3. Give your cat attention! It is a common misconception that cats are independent creatures that do not really need people. WRONG! All of my cats want tons of attention, in some way or form. It could be from simply petting them to throwing their ball down the hall, like a dog. (Yes, we have one like that.) Cats do desire and require some kind of stimulation, so make sure to provide that for them.
  4. Join the Military Cat Club! Get signed up today for this FREE program and receive coupons and other goodies along your cat family journey!

So in conclusion, celebrate your fluffy friend during Happy Cat Month! Take them to the vet, get them their favorite treats, or maybe just give them some extra love. Your cat will thank you in the long run!
