United States – The Democratic Party will demonstrate a formidable family unity today when the Kennedy political family, spanning over 15 members, will endorse President Joe Biden in Philadelphia. This endorsement signifies the whole parties’ unity in the time when the country prepares for presidential election, as reported by Reuters.

Concerns Over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Political Path

The Kennedys had a dual image towards Biden, including worries about the future of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Although his extreme anti-vaccination stance and peculiar political views have sparked some criticism, there are still questions surrounding his influence on the electoral outcome.

Biden’s Connection to the Kennedy Legacy

Each US president has his own history and connection to the Kennedy family which is also marked by a common belief in human rights and public service. From his very beginning, where he found himself inspired by the Kennedy brothers and Martin Luther King Jr. to the point now where they are his family till forever, his political journey shares a lot of similarities.

“I can only imagine how Donald Trump’s outrageous lies and behavior would have horrified my father, Robert F. Kennedy,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s younger sister Kerry Kennedy will say at the Biden campaign event, according to prepared remarks. “Daddy stood for equal justice, human rights, and freedom from want and fear. Just as President Biden does today.”

Pennsylvania Swing State Focus

The timing of the Kennedy endorsement coincides with Biden’s campaign efforts in Pennsylvania, a pivotal swing state crucial for his reelection bid. With the support of the Kennedy family, Biden aims to secure strong turnouts, particularly from the Black community in Philadelphia, echoing the family’s historic advocacy for civil rights, as reported by Reuters.

“I have a big family,” Robert F. Kennedy Jr told Reuters last month. “Many of them are working in my campaign. Not everybody agrees with me.”
