United States – President Joe Biden’s only son, Hunter Biden, will be heading to the US court on Wednesday. He insists that the criminal charges filed for tax evasion amounting to US$1.4 million should be dismissed on the grounds that political pressure by Republican lawmakers in Congress was put on the prosecutors who investigated his father.

However, Hunter Biden’s lawyers will appear before US District Court Judge Mark Scarsi at Los Angeles Federal Court to challenge several legal challenges to the charges, such as selective prosecution of Biden in retaliation to the Republican disapproval that began arising over the allegation of Lenient treatment of Biden in a previous case, as reported by Reuters.

Hunter Biden, 54, pleaded not guilty to $1.4 million in unpaid taxes over the period from 2016 to 2019, including drugs, escorts, exotic cars, and many other costly purchases. His lawyer’s statement that he did this was made.

Trial Set for June

The trial is going to start in June, which is a few months before Americans are expected to vote in the November presidential election that looks to be a close and immense controversy between Joe Biden, the same man who had been subjected to an impeachment procedure, and Donald Trump, the man who is facing four criminal trials.

Hunter Biden, also in his role as the first child of a sitting US President, was convicted on criminal charges and a separate criminal prosecution in the federal court in Delaware for the purchase of a handgun when he was consumed with illegal drugs. He has pled not guilty and also made the same motions to throw out the charges in his case.

Special Counsel David Weiss, the chief prosecutor, accused the Attorney at Law for Hunter Biden of pushing a “conspiracy theories” and said The Justice Department has never conducted an investigation under the dictate of one individual.

The foreign business dealings of Hunter Biden, as reported by the tax indictment, are the main subject of an impeachment investigation, by Republicans in the House, concerning whether Joe Biden profited from his son’s activities or not.

The probe has so far produced no evidence that was linked to a person who might have got benefits.

Furthermore, Hunter Biden uses another defense to overturn the charges: Weiss, who started investigating Hunter Biden in 2019, was wrongfully appointed special counsel.

Weiss, a former US attorney for the Northern District of Delaware, had been nominated by then-President Donald Trump. He was renamed special counsel by AG Merrick Garland last year, who was confirmed by Joe Biden.

Hunter Biden’s defense, on the other hand, has maintained that the case is invalid because an earlier plea agreement that the son of the president entered into with the prosecutors was blackmailed, as reported by Reuters.

That fell apart in 2017 when a judge asked questions about that deal Biden would admit to a tax misdemeanor. According to a prosecutor, it was never a fact.
